Vice Premier Ma Kai Attends and Addresses Opening Ceremony of Industrial Internet Summit 2018 in Beijing

On February 1-2, 2018, the Industrial Internet Summit 2018, co-sponsored by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and the Alliance of Industrial Internet (the Alliance or AII) under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), was successfully held at China National Convention Center in Beijing. Ma Kai, Vice Premier of the State Council, attended and addressed the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Miao Wei, head of the MIIT. Chen Zhaoxiong, deputy head of the MIIT, and heads of departments such as the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) were also present. Zhang Feng, Chief Engineer of the MIIT, and Wang Xinzhe, Chief Economist of the MIIT, attended and delivered speeches at important sessions of the summit such as the Industrial Internet Development Dialogue and the Forum on Industrial Internet Ecosystem and Practice respectively.

Ma Kai: Accelerate the development of the industrial internet to boost the transformation, upgrading and high-quality development of China’s industry

Ma Kai noted that the industrial internet is a key pillar of the new industrial revolution and an important cornerstone of intelligent manufacturing. By fully interconnecting people, machines and things and promoting the ubiquitous connection, flexible supply and efficient allocation of manufacturing resources, the industrial internet is driving profound changes in innovation models, production modes, forms of organization and business paradigms in the manufacturing sector, as well as the reconstruction, iteration and all-round upgrade of the global industrial ecosystem.

Ma stressed that it was essential to seize the strategic opportunities brought by the new industrial revolution and gain a full insight into the importance of speeding up the development of the industrial internet in China. Local governments, competent authorities, and enterprises and public institutions concerned should, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, study and implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress. They should give full play to China’s institutional and market advantages, and strive to build three major functional systems of networks, platforms and security, through scientific planning, coordinated efforts and orderly arrangements, with enterprises acting as main players in a market-oriented manner. While following the rules and having the courage to innovate, they should improve innovation, industry and application ecosystems, cultivate high-quality professionals, promote deep integration of the internet, big data and artificial intelligence (AI) into the real economy, push for changes in the quality, efficiency and dynamics of industrial development, in a bid to accelerate the building of China into a manufacturing power and an internet power and make positive contributions to high-quality economic development.
